Celestial avigation (N) (Formerly Navigation) is the second part of the two-part program in offshore (open coastal) navigation. It builds on skills learned in Offshore Navigation and includes sextant sights of the stars, moon and planets to establish lines of position (LOPs). This course is currently under development and expected to become available in late 2008.
Although highly qualified and motivated members may take this course with no pre-requisites, successful completion of Seamanship, Piloting, Advanced Piloting and Junior Navigation is required for advancement to the grade of Navigator (N).
